Mosa Paper Lampshade

Mosa Lamp
Downward Diamond Geometric Lamp Shade.

Experimenting with form, shape, and proportions with paper as a material.
3 different sized squares of white and tracing paper used and overlapped to create a pattern of dark, light and open spaces for light to filter through.

Above shows poster displaying lamp.

Aim for design:
For light to flow through geometrically.

Starting Iterations

In original iterations the linear panels of light worked effectively to allow light to filter through the slits. The overall shape and rigidity of the lamp needed improvement.
Lamp needed to have more structure a linear shape would achieve this.

Bauhaus Posters used during Ideation

Bauhaus inspired the idea of the overlapping squares, to look at primary geometry of lines and squares. Right hand photo shows an effective use of mixed proportions. Inspiration taken from Mosaic Tiles.

Sketching and Creating

Sketch above shows the idea for the lampshade. Left Image below was ideating what geometric layering to consider. Right image shown below was the guide used to create the overall shape. Squares layered horizontally over the template, Glued together and then rotated 45°.

Patch work pattern for nostalgia and comfort resembling a blanket.

Building the Lamp Shade

Had to reiterate the lamp holder seen above for it to be more seamless.
Photo below shows new holder that fits with the design.
